The island food is intriguingly different and yet reassuringly familiar, Guernsey food is very impressive. In October you can even have a meal as part of the‘ Tennerfest ' offer on meals for about £10.00!

The islands have an amazing reputation for food and we recommend La Fregate Hotel Restaurant for a more sophisticated feel. Some of the finest views over St Peter Port are at the La Fregate Hotel.

Nix-Neuf Brassiere & Bar is in the Commercial Arcade in St Peter Port, it's defiantly worth visiting. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Its neither a Restaurant, nor a Wine Bar,Café or Pub. It is all these things! just a great central place to eat!

Do make a point if your shopping in the ‘town’and to visit Guernsey’s department store Creasey’s and their Café/ Restaurant, a great place to recharge after visiting all the town shopping!
This is an ideal place to recharge with amazing and stunning views over the harbour and the other islands.

Do have a look at the auberge, this restaurant is set in a cliff-top location and is at the forefront of culinary excellence in the island.

Do make a point of exploring the many different eating places across the island. The island has a vast amount of Restaurants/Café’s that can easily match any UK restaurant! Even the sophistication of London.

Be aware that the UK National Health Service does not cover the Channel Islands.

Inpatient treatment is provided free of charge. It is advisable though to take out good medical insurance as there are other health costs.

The British pound is the official currency of the Channel Islands, however Jersey and Guernsey issue their own currency. These notes are not legal tender in the UK.

So make sure you exchange the local coins and notes before leaving the islands. Some UK Banks may except Channel Island notes, but you may have to be banking with them. You can not exchange Channel Island notes at a Bureau de Change.

The local currency and notes can be confusing to the UK tourist. The Islands still use the 'pound note' and the colour of the different types of notes, can also be confusing for the UK tourist.

The Channel islands can be expensive to travel to. Do make a point of booking your flight early to get the cheapest deal.
