The islands are littered with occupation buildings and history from anti tank walls on the beaches to observation posts to gun in-placements to underground hospitals.
All the islands have different places that the tourist can visit from the German command bunker at Noirmont Point Jersey to the Guernsey Occupation Museum.
The most popular is the German Underground Hospital in Jersey that is a chilling reminder of World War
Two,and do make a point of visiting the tunnels as they defiantly give an incite into the occupation.
The La Vallette Underground Military Museum Guernsey is a concrete lined opening in the cliff that leads into a complex of tunnels that is a refuelling station for U-boats during the occupation.
Most of the occupation facilities are built by Slave labourers.
Alderney has massive concrete structures that became tombs for many of the slave labour and detainees who died of starvation and stand today as a lasting memorial and at the Hammond Memorial that is at Longis Common once the site of hundreds of unmarked graves.
Back in Guernsey is the German Underground Hospital in St Andrews is worth visiting.
Jerseys subterranean hospital has been renovated, the one at St Andrews has been little altered since the end of the occupation and must be visited and again is a memorial to the slave workers who died here.
If you go to an Island cove or bay there will be some reminder of the occupation as the islands where heavily fortified by the Germans. Sark has very little occupation buildings or gun in-placements, however do make a point of visiting the Sark Museum with some fascinating information about the occupation of Sark and is located not far from 'the Avenue' the main street.
Across the islands are organizations like the Channel Islands Occupation Society (Jersey) that is a voluntary organisation, dedicated to the preservation of all aspects of the German occupation of Jersey during the Second World War and may be of help to you, in finding more about the occupation of the Channel Islands. See our internet hub for the website.
Every part of the Occupation of the Islands is a reminder and memorial to the occupation of these amazing islands and should be visited by you at some stage of your visit.
